Introduction

The Arnaud Legoux Moving Avg (ALMA) for NinjaTrader is a technical indicator that aims to reduce lag and improve smoothness by combining a Gaussian distribution to weigh prices, focusing more on the most recent prices to better align with current market trends.

The Arnaud Legoux Moving Average (ALMA) has several user inputs that allow traders to customize the indicator according to their trading strategy and preferences:

• Window Length: This determines the number of bars used to calculate the ALMA. A longer window smooths out the moving average more but can increase lag, while a shorter window makes the ALMA more responsive to price changes but may also increase noise.
• Offset: The offset controls the lag by shifting the moving average closer to the current price or further away. An offset closer to 1 moves the average closer to the most recent price, reducing lag but potentially increasing noise.
• Sigma: Sigma determines the width of the Gaussian weighting curve. A higher sigma value increases the weight of the prices in the middle of the window, making the moving average smoother. A lower sigma value focuses more on the recent prices, making the ALMA more responsive to recent price changes.
